Remotely Operated Vehicle - ROV
A ROV is an unmanned submersible (underwater vessels) controlled from the surface, and connected by an umbilical or tether (cable), to a control console.
It can be mounted with many kinds of equipment and tools, such as: video camera, camera for still photo, lights, manipulators, sonar, compass, cutting tool, high pressure water jet cleaning tool and different measure tools.
The ROV is an expensive piece of equipment, The price will depend upon what setup the ROV is equipped with, how big the ROV is and which technique is needed.
The ROV is highly maneuverable, and requires only a technician/pilot and usually one other person (staff or science crew) for deck or rig operations. The ROV is very portable, which makes it very easy to transport anywhere in any kind of vehicle or vessel.
